Listening to… Francisco Tarrega

Two of my favorite quotes from McQueen’s show at the MET:

“You’ve got to know the rules to break them. That’s what I’m here for, to demolish the rules but to keep the tradition.”

—Alexander McQueen

“I want to be honest about the world that we live in, and sometimes my political persuasions come through in my work. Fashion can be really racist, looking at the clothes of other cultures as costumes… . That’s mundane and it’s old hat. Let’s break down some barriers.”

—Alexander McQueen

Visited the 54th Venice Biennale and it was absolutely amazing. Magical city indeed (minus the tourists).

Here’s a great video piece by Monocle culture editor Robert Bound on the event.

Hope you enjoy my photos from the trip.

Bourdain in Paris

Couldn’t keep my eyes off of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations: PARIS

The amazing culinary “temples” they hit up in the city of love:

1) Je The

2) Le CoCottes

3) Frenchie *

4) Butcher shop - Huge Desnoyer

5) Jeu Quilles (next door to butcher shop)

6) Open air street market - Rue Mouffetard

7) Le Papillon (for the Pieds Paquets, or tripe & pig’s foot)

8) Le Chateauriand *

9) Le Comptior

10) Le Atelier

* run by new young french chefs, looks so delicious
